Estop PCB Enclosure
The Estop PCB enclosure for our 2023 IGVC had to support visibility of onboard LEDs, and secure an accesible location for the Estop. I opted for a lexan lid, with a screw on frame that would be secure during IGVC runs but that could be opened in order to access the electronics.
CAD Modeling
Aside from the lexan lid, the box also required screw holes for M3 standoffs, a place for the DB9 cable, and screw holes for the enclosure attachment. Overall I enjoyed the design aspects of this project as it forced me to design for the specifications our Estop PCB designer. Collaborating like that is one of my favorite parts of SCR.
Assembly
In order to more seamlessly attach the lexan lid, M3 threaded inserts were pushed into its plastic base. Our standoffs fit our PCB and the button and enclosure attachment were added easily. Because of proper part selection we were able to avoid mistakes in assembly.
